The railway line that threads through Kaziranga National Park kills animals every year — and the authorities have finally made the trains part of the solution.

Speed restrictions, elevated underpasses for rhino and elephant crossings, and quieter approaches now govern the line’s operation through the park.

Wildlife officers call it the hardest conversation in conservation: ‘The train was here first. Now it must learn to share.’
