Agartala’s café culture: how a capital city found its taste for coffee and conversation

Three years ago, Agartala had two cafés worth the name. Today the city counts a dozen independent ones, each with its own signature brew, playlist and crowd.

The cafés have become informal town squares — for students, start-up founders and the city’s first generation of remote workers.

Owners say the boom tracks a demographic shift: a young, connected capital that no longer dreams only of moving to Delhi.
