The Naga-run homestay network of Khonoma: tourism’s hardest test

The conservation village's homestay network has a rule: visitors do not change the village; the village changes visitors.

Khonoma’s homestay network — 30 households, a common kitchen and a strict visitors’ code — runs on a rule borrowed from its conservation history: the guest adapts to the village, not the reverse.

Guests eat what the village eats, walk the village paths, and leave the forest as they found it.

The model has doubled household incomes without adding a single plastic bottle.
